There was a time I could never quite understand couples marrying mid-to-late afternoon during the late autumn and winter months in the UK. It’s a race against time for any ambient light advantage, indoors or out! And especially so on grey (most!) days.
But there’s something much more relaxed and easy-going about the autumn and winter weddings. Maybe the couples who plan “off-season” (I hate that phrase, there’s nothing “off” about it at all!) weddings are just more relaxed about the whole thing. And when viewed through that lens, a 3pm wedding in November makes perfect sense!
Being perfectly sensible, I was a bit nervous about my prospects of getting the “formal” (another one I hate) photographs written onto the card in time. The soggy ground didn’t help matters, as we had to limit ourselves to the unyielding pavement. No traipsing through piles of leaves, as in their engagement photos.
Despite the lighting concerns, looking through Xiaojie and Ed’s selection of photographs, I count at most ten photographs with flash.
I laugh at you, winter. Bring it…
